13: Feeling Out of Alignment? | 3 Ways to Reconnect With Your Purpose and Energy
We hear about alignment all the time: “get in alignment,” “build an aligned business,” “live in alignment.” But what does that really mean when you’re a working mom juggling career goals, a family, and a dream that just won’t let go?
As a life coach for entrepreneurs and a mom who left a 15-year corporate career to follow my purpose, I’ve come to learn that alignment isn’t just a buzzword. It’s the foundation for building a life that feels good, not just one that looks good on paper.
If you’re feeling tired, disconnected, or like you’re doing everything right but something still feels off, you might not be failing. You might just be out of alignment.
Signs You’re Out of Alignment as a Working Mom
When you’re in alignment, you feel energized, focused, and clear. Even on the hard days, there’s a steady undercurrent of purpose. But when you’re out of alignment? Everything starts to feel heavier than it should.
Here are a few signs that may point to misalignment:
- You wake up dreading the day
- You’re constantly exhausted no matter how much rest you get
- You find yourself snapping over small things
- You feel disconnected from your work or yourself
- Joyful moments feel few and far between
These aren’t just fleeting feelings. They’re messages. And the longer you ignore them, the louder they get.

My Wake-Up Call: From Burned Out to Lit Up
For years, I looked successful. I had the six-figure job, a beautiful family, and a packed calendar of “shoulds.”
But inside? I was depleted. No nap, vacation, or spa day could restore what I had lost: my connection to me.
I realized I wasn’t exhausted because I was weak. I was exhausted because I was living out of alignment with what I actually wanted. That moment cracked me open and started my journey back to wholeness.
Interestingly, burnout is more than just being tired. According to this Harvard Business Review article on preventing burnout, making compassion a daily habit, especially toward yourself, can be one of the most effective ways to protect your energy and stay emotionally grounded.
Small Steps Toward Alignment
I didn’t overhaul my life overnight, and you don’t need to either. I started with micro moments of alignment, tiny shifts that added up.
Here’s what helped me:
- Drinking my coffee in silence every morning before the noise of the day
- Working out first thing in the morning because movement regulates my nervous system
- Picking my kids up 15 minutes early to enjoy unrushed time
- Taking short, unplugged walks in nature
- Reading something I love but had neglected
These small moments helped me feel like myself again. Over time, they turned into non-negotiable rituals. And they built my resilience so I could bounce back faster when life got chaotic.

My 3 Steps to Realign (Without Overhauling Your Life)
If you’re ready to feel aligned again, here’s where to start:
1️⃣ Notice the Red Flags
Your body always knows first. Pay attention to those early signs of burnout, frustration, and depletion. Don’t wait for it to become your normal.
When you’re ready to go deeper, my Light Her Up Holistic Mentorship helps you rebuild a resilient foundation of energy, mindset, and strategy.
2️⃣ Build a Reflection Practice
Each Sunday, I ask myself:
- What did I do well this week?
- What could I have done better?
- What brought me joy?
This simple check-in helps me recalibrate before things spiral.
You can also do deeper monthly reflections.
Ask yourself: What’s the theme of your month? What’s working? What’s not? Am I living aligned with my values?
And when life throws curveballs, resilience matters most. The American Psychological Association’s Road to Resilience is a clear guide to help you recover, adapt, and move forward.
3️⃣ Add Micro Moments of Alignment
Don’t underestimate tiny shifts. Start with 15 minutes a day doing something that lights you up. Maybe it’s sitting in silence, a short walk, a dance break, or a favorite book.
These micro moments build momentum and they’re accessible even in busy seasons of motherhood and entrepreneurship.
And when those small shifts are rooted in your identity? That’s where the magic happens. James Clear’s identity-based habits support this beautifully. You’re not forcing change. You’re reinforcing who you already are.
Why Alignment is Essential for Female Entrepreneurs
Alignment isn’t about getting it perfect. It’s about creating a business that fits your life, not the other way around.
When you’re aligned:
- Your content flows with ease
- You attract clients who resonate with your energy
- Your boundaries feel natural, not forced
- You stop chasing someone else’s definition of success
That’s why alignment is a core pillar of my coaching practice. From 1:1 work to group mentorship, I’ve watched women go from stuck and scattered to clear, magnetic, and empowered without burning everything down.
Your Weekly Alignment Check-In
If you’re not sure where to start, begin with these questions:
- What drained me this week, and why?
- What moments felt light or meaningful?
- What’s one thing I can do this week just for me?
This reflection helps you pause, recalibrate, and choose again. You don’t need more time. You need more truth.
